        Since its inception in 1987, Dallas D.A.N.C.E. has become one of the most prestigious dance conventions nationwide. It provides not only a weekend of great music and dancing, but also quality competitions. The competitors work long hours to prepare to put on a good show. To acknowledge our appreciation for their efforts and achievements, the Dallas D.A.N.C.E. Committee established the Dallas D.A.N.C.E. Hall of Fame.

        The system of scoring is objective. It is based on "Three A's":  Achievement, Advancement, and Activity. Induction into the Dallas D.A.N.C.E. Hall of Fame requires a minimum of 1,500 points.
        The points and percentages earned have been weighted to accommodate the various levels of dance.

I.    ACHIEVEMENT--Every dancer receives points based upon their placement in the contest.

1st  place 100 pts. 6th place 25 pts.
2nd place 70 pts. 7th place 20 pts.
3rd place 50 pts. 8th place 15 pts.
4th place 40 pts. 9th place 10 pts.
5th place 30 pts. 10th place 5 pts.

 

II.    ADVANCEMENT--The dancer keeps the percentage of the Achievement points corresponding to the category in which he/she placed.

Showcase, Draw, Open/Progressive, Classic 100%
Masters 75%
Pro/Am 50% / 25%
Novice, Contemporary, Jack & Jill, Novice Strictly Swing 25%
Newcomer Novice, Novice Jack & Jill 15%
Cabaret, Teams 50%

 

III.    ACTIVITY--Dancers are awarded points for the cumulative number of times they entered AND placed in a contest.

 1st contest   5 pts. 5th contest 25 pts.
2nd contest 10 pts. 6th contest 30 pts.
3rd contest 15 pts. (etc.) (etc.)
4th contest 20 pts. 10 contests 50 pts.

EXAMPLE:


    Mr./Ms. Dancer has placed 5th in Novice and 3rd as Am in Pro/Am.

                        I.    30 pts. for 5th Place and 50 pts. for 3rd Place
                        II.   25% for Novice contest and 25% as Am in Pro/Am contest.
                        III.  5 pts. for entry '1' and 10 pts. for entry '2'.

                    [(30 x .25 + 5)] + [40 x .25) + 10] = (7.5 + 5) + (12.5 + 10)
                                                                          = 12.5 + 22.5
                                                                          = 35 Total Points
